Yesterday’s WOTE Quant looked at the evolving SPX sector landscape through the lens of relative strength and key cross-asset market macro pairs, and today the market decided to speak quite loudly which way it wants to take things. While I did not expect to respond from a portfolio perspective this quickly, today is a time to take action.

Back on July 22 I closed out the RSP/XLI trade initiated on June 13, and the strategy has been sitting in a neutral SPLG position ever since as I sit and wait for a decisive opportunity to deploy portfolio active share. Now is the time.
